Overview

Trauma Grand Rounds is an ACCME-accredited educational activity designed to enhance the knowledge, competence, and performance of healthcare professionals involved in the care of injured patients. This regularly scheduled series provides an interdisciplinary forum for the review of complex trauma cases, emerging evidence, clinical guidelines, and best practices in trauma care.

Through expert presentations, case-based discussions, and multidisciplinary collaboration, participants will examine topics related to trauma resuscitation, surgical and critical care management, injury prevention, patient safety, quality improvement, and systems-based approaches to trauma care. The activity encourages the integration of current evidence into clinical practice and fosters communication among physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other members of the trauma team.

By participating in Trauma Grand Rounds, learners will identify opportunities to improve diagnostic accuracy, clinical decision-making, team performance, and patient outcomes. This activity supports the continuous professional development of healthcare providers dedicated to delivering safe, effective, and high-quality trauma care across the continuum of treatment.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. At conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to: • Identify and Apply Evidence-Based Practices: Participants will be able to identify evidence-based guidelines for managing major trauma, including hemorrhagic shock and traumatic brain injury, and apply these principles to optimize patient outcomes in real-time clinical scenarios. • Enhance Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration: Participants will improve their ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure seamless communication and effective decision-making during trauma resuscitation. • Recognize and Mitigate Risk Factors for Complications: Participants will develop skills to recognize risk factors for common trauma-related complications and implement timely preventive and therapeutic interventions.
