CNE: Surgical Oncology Conference

This conference is intended for Surgical Oncology and Float Pool Nurses. It will provide practical, interdisciplinary education that strengthens nurses' knowledge and confidence when caring for complex surgical oncology patients, with emphasis on expected postoperative care, specialty specific nursing management, early recognition of complications, and appropriate escalation.

1. Upon completion of the Surgical Oncology Nursing Conference, participants will self report increased knowledge and confidence in recognizing expected postoperative findings and potential complications, identifying appropriate nursing interventions, and determining when escalation of care is indicated for surgical oncology patients. (Knowledge)
2. Upon completion of the Surgical Oncology Conference participants will demonstrate the ability to trouble shoot and accurately document care of common drains seen on the Surgical Oncology Unit. (Skill)

UCHealth is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by Colorado Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
